Sendik's Mequon
Sendick's ready for its big push for the Mequon customer. The major remodel is almost complete, in fact only a trained eye can see that it's not quite done. The expansion that took place provides the store with a liquor and wine shop that has a great selection of spirits. Additionally, they have upgraded the stores image with a mix of stainless steel and modern colors. Service is still the main stay of this store. Sendik's continues in unusal presentation with the produce department last in the shopping pattern. Mequon can be proud that it can say it has two of the best up scale supermarkets in its city. Metro Market and Sendik's why would anyone have to go travel anyway else.

Woodman's coming to Sun Priaire
Woodman's developing a store of 226,000 square feet in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Its location is at the corner of Grand avenue and Highway 151. This store has been rumored for years in this community and is likely to put great pressure on the grocery dollars in all of the communities on the east side of Madison and those communities north along the interstate road system. Sun Prairie is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, but even with this growth its hard to believe that Dane county can support another mega store, without major impact on the competitive nature of the grocery business. I believe it will be very hard for any independent retailer to compete with Copps, Woodman's and Super Walmart in the long term. I am surprised that Woodman's is investing in this market and by passing higher populated areas in the state.
GFS coming to hot 43th street
The growth along 43 street is really starting to gain a popular Milwaukee destination for many retailers. Target, Menards, Pick'n Save, Planned independent grocery retailer next to Target, planned Super Walmart, and now GFS. This central location next to Miller park has seen a steam of activity over the recent years. This area is only limited by the traffic 43th street will be able to handle. This may area will take away from the 27th street commercial future. Look for GFS to locate a store in Waukesha.
